He grew up well as a scullery boy
though washing of pots he didn't enjoy
He played with his friends and he worked at the farm
That was shelter to him and kept him from harm
For fourteen years his life was simple, Garion.
He left his farm home one Erastide night
his aunt and that vagabond hid him from sight
His world went awry as he met with the Thief
The Man with Two Lives and the Bear full of grief
His life was awry being chased by a spy, Garion.
He was all confused as they wandered the land
and more companions joined with their band
The Knight and the Archer, the Queen and the Guide
The Horse Lord was bidden to ride by their side
Yet his own special self was his biggest surprise, Garion.
He had the mark of a sorcerer born
From the mundane world his senses were torn
He could then fulfill each true desire
Making flowers with love, and smoke and fire
But the magic he had did not make him glad, Garion.
He wondered aloud why he couldn't go home
He didn't know why he was chosen to roam
He felt tossed all around and alone at sea
As he traveled with many of royalty
His question remained as he asked Why Me, Garion
And while he did travel and oft-times he'd fight
To make sure the world would continue aright
While his name would be known as a symbol of might
and he did become known as the Child of Light
Still does he wonder in dreams late at night.... Garion.
