Dark Filker

ttto "The Lady" by Jodi Krangle, copyright 1995 by Jodi Krangle/SOCAN
This wasn't originally supposed to be a song about Erica Neely, but after I wrote the last verse (which refers to an incident at FilKONtario 11), I guess it is.

The filker stands bravely before the bright room,
She has a new song for to sing.
Many a woman and many a man
Have foundered when ose here they bring.

For the filkers are silly, they like happy tunes
They think that Child ballads are all gloom and doom
And if you'll sing ose then they'll get up and go
And the singer will sing all alone.

She looks at the faces all circled around,
She knows many here are her friends.
She strums her guitar to begin her new song,
And soon these faces are dreading the end.

Though the filkers are silly, they love a good song
If it's got a good beat then they might sing along
Despite blood and gore they can stand it for now
And the filker will not sing alone.

Dark, looming chords
Show where this song goes...

The filker sings strongly, her voice rises clear
Her guitar sings strongly as well.
The words that she sings are not quite ose, you see.
And they ring out as clear as a bell.

Though the filkers are silly, yet still they will sing
For she's won them over to her sort of thing
She's shown that serious is more than ose
And she'll never again sing alone.

Then the filker says gently, "I wrote one for you,
A true silly song you can share.
My friends whom I love have inspired me so
That I now have a song that won't scare."

And the filkers are silly, they join in her song,
They're proud she can laugh and still sing out strong.
For when they act out her chorus she laughs clear and loud
And she knows she will not laugh alone. And this filker will not sing alone.
