Here are some photos I've been collecting; most are by me, but most
that are of me or of my niece are not. Obviously, photos taken before my
birth are not. If you wish to use pictures from this site, you must
credit it as "Courtesy Ginger Cat Enterprises, Copyright 2003."
Some pictures were taken with a digital camera and some were scanned in
later. I also have a personal photos page on Webshots and at PrintRoom.
And you might be interested in my index of photos
posted to LiveJournal.
Friends & Family
- Here's my dad's mother, my Bubbe, with her two
oldest daughters, Henrietta and Bernice. My dad is, the youngest of
seven, 18 years younger than Henrietta... but my Bubbe sure doesn't look
like a mother of seven in this picture! Taken sometime in the 1940s.
- Here's a picture I took of Liz Gorrill
playing piano on New Year's Day 1989.
- My friend Neil claims he looks like a
giant
egg here; I think he looks like a great big Totoro. (359x478, 23K)
- Here's a picture of me and my friend
Deb/darkwng being silly at an Ethiopian restaurant in Georgetown
(Entotto; I highly recommend it). (646x444, 215K)
- Here's a picture of my friend Ben sitting on a
ledge about one-fourth the way up the Kaaterskill Falls in New York State.
Taken with his really neat Sony digital camera.
- Here's a really cute picture of my friend Tendyl and her cat.
- Here's my friend John, better known as Spam, in
typical attire.
- This is my
friend Ny (her full name is Nyani-Iisha, but she
prefers to be called Ny) looking her usual sweet self. We threw her a surprise birthday party in 2003.
- Here is my dear sweet Jacob, looking
bemused by the fact that I love to photograph him. We're getting married
someday, really. And here's a picture of Jacob
singing at Arisia 2002. And a picture of us at his parents' house for Thanksgiving
2002.
- Thanks to my sister Shira and her husband John, I acquired a niece on
April 13, 2001. Her name is Juliana
Kimberly
Quidone. More pictures of Juliana can be found here.
- There are a fair number of people pictures among the pictures I took in
Atlanta.
Flowers & Scenery
- Here's a shot of the Old State House in
Boston, surrounded by skyscrapers.
- Here's a pretty rose I found at the Arnold
Arboretum (in Jamaica Plain MA). (308x282, 14K)
- The view of the river and mountains, from
the Tanglewood Music Center. (1024x384, 78K)
- A rosebush strays beyond the bars of its
genteel Savannah GA home. (646x512, 21K)
- Here's just one set of rhododendron
blossoms. (243x199, 7K)
- These roses were also growing in the garden
at Entotto.
I forgot to turn off the auto-flash and got a rather interesting effect.
(282x379, 159K)
- These flowers were growing on the wall of
one of the sculpture gardens
in downtown DC. I got some nice shots of the sculpture too, but that's
not going on the web. (368x362, 204K)
- The Kaaterskill Falls are rather neat in that about one-fourth of the
way up, it flattens out almost completely for about twenty feet, making
lovely smooth sandstone pools that puts any man-made wading pool to shame.
Here are some colorful pebbles in one of the
very shallow pools, and the water coming down
to the flat area, over the boulders, and forming a little whirlpool.
(Taken with my friend Ben's camera, again.)
- I took a bunch of pictures of my yard in Malden the day after an ice
storm. They can be seen here.
- There are a fair number of scenery pictures among the pictures I took in
Atlanta.
- Some pictures I took in the garden of the North Hadley Sugar Shack: a bud of some tiny tall flower, a syrup "tanker", a a pretty wildflower, a a viola in the grass.
- Cook Farm in Hadley MA has assorted animals: free-range chicken, cute
veal calves in their pens.
- Here are apple blossoms at Brookfield Orchards in
Brookfield, MA. This tree also had an interesting spider web on it. Also at the orchard is a
playground; here's a view from beneath a
slide.
- Here are details from some of the beautiful trees around where I live:
a blossom from a cherry tree,
some maple leaves, and pear blossoms.
- The nicest thing about having a yard is watching the things I plant,
like tulips, come up.
Pets
- My cat Andromeda lurks beneath
the coffee table. (498x535, 32K)
- A low-light shot of Andromeda that I'm rather
proud of. And I finally got a scanner that could do it in color!
- In July 2000, I adopted another cat, an itty-bitty kitten whom I
named Gabrielle (because I was hoping that my warrior-princess cat
Andromeda
would like her), that my coworker Wiley had rescued. He has a whole page of pictures
of her and the other kitty that he and his partner Jenn found.
- I finally borrowed a digicam to photograph my new kitty: I have one, two,
three pictures of Gabbie playing with her toys,
at approximately thirteen weeks of age (mid-August 2000). And here are
one, two
pictures of her with Andromeda (who is two and a half
years old).
- More cat pictures: Gabbie napping in the
sun, Gabbie awake in the sun.
- Here are Andromeda and Gabbie
enjoying the view of the yard. Also see Gabbie by herself.
- Gabbie is also fond of sitting on
the air-conditioner and watching
me work in the yard.
Narcissism
- Some professional photos taken of me in November 1997: in Renaissance garb, posing with
my flute, and pretending to play
my flute (I didn't want to get lipstick on it). And no, I don't
ordinarily wear makeup or go about without my
glasses, but a "makeover" was part of the deal. (341x480, 119K; 341x480,
112K; 385x480, 117K)
- Here I'm playing alto recorder
with some British filkers at a housefilk near London, in March 1999. I'm
wearing the Techno-Fandom "Regular or Extra-Crispy?" T-shirt. (Taken by
my friend Rafe Culpin.) (582x895, 45K)
- Here are a couple of pictures that were taken (in December 1999) for a
brochure at my former workplace: watching a reader (cropped out of the picture) and
playing with our very useful geek toy.
- Here I am singing at FilKONtario 11 in April
2001. The gentlemen in front of me are Dave Clement and Tom Jeffers, two
excellent musicians whom I was honored to meet.
