My dad often says that his sister Bernice makes a great six-course meal: "Tu-na fish, hard-boiled eggs." Be that as it may, these "bagels" are a great change from matzah during Passover.
Combine and heat shortening and water until shortening melts. You can ensure correct measurement by displacement; put the water in a weasuring cup and add shortening until the water is up to the 1-cup line.
Sift together matzo meal, salt, and sugar and add to the above.
Stir over low heat until liquid is absorbed.
Remove from heat and beat in 3 eggs, one at a time. Mixture should be beaten until completely blended and smooth after each egg is added. Batter should be stiff enough to drop from spoon and hold its shape.
Bake on greased sheet (or use parchment paper) allowing 3 inches between to allow for spreading. Bake for 30-40 minutes in an oven preheated to 375 degrees.
